What is This?!

Hello and welcome,

First of all I would like to thank you for taking the time to stop by on your journey through the immense reaches of the internet. Please stop, put your feet up, won’t you stay a while?

My Name is Benjamin Pinsent, but if you would like you can call me Bungy. I am a student doing a PhD in Film Studies at the University of East Anglia, specialising in Special Effects in cinema, and this is my blog, Corrupted Records.

Like most people I have opinions and I have a lot of them, especially about films, so I have dedicated this blog to talking about movies. I write Film Reviews both on the latest releases (though most of the time, the films have been out for a while) and things that I have watched that are older, in a series called What did I Just Watch. I have no specialisation to speak of when it comes to film, however I like to approach them as objectively as I can and critique all aspects of the film.

Similarly and very occasionally I will post something that I like to call a Corrupted Record. This is an in-depth look at a topic or a film that I have found interesting and I want to share my ideas with the wider web. I think that films whether they are populist or art house have a deeper meaning so with these essays I hope to make people think about their favourite films in different ways, whether they want to or not, through plagiarising other people’s research.

Enough of the content though, why does this blog exist, what is its purpose and what do I want to do with it. Well I think the main reason is that I would like to write about films professionally. This blog is primarily a portfolio of work that I can show to employers. However that is not its only purpose, I want to start debates and conversations about film, how films can be approached differently and how to perhaps share some overlooked or obscure films with casual film viewers, genre fans and cinephiles.

I hope that you can find something you find interesting too.

Thank you for visiting, please come back anytime there may be something new for you.
